Hayem’s reagent is an isotonic haematology solution composed of different salts. This concentration of salts causes lysis of the leukocytes while erythrocytes remain intact.
The regular blood count forms the basis of haematologic diagnostics. Hayem’s reagent is used for diluting blood samples in red blood cell counts.
