Automatic Staining System
Principle
Romanowsky stains are constituted by Methylene blue and its oxidised forms, basic stains, and the acid stain Eosin. The basic stains binds to acidic components of cells (nucleic acids, basophil granules and acid proteins) staining it in a red-purple colour.Eosin stain binds to haemoglobin, the cell basic components, and eosinphil granules. Ratio between Methylene blue and its oxidised forms and between that compounds and Eosin, are important for having coloration more or less bluish. These ratios are a characteristic of each stain: Giemsa, May Grünwald-Giemsa or Quick Panoptic.
